CamiWe’ve all heard it’s better to give than receive — but Cami Walker is finding out just how much better. Walker, a small-business consultant in Los Angeles, was a newlywed, newly diagnosed with MS, and spent much of late 2006 and early 2007 in the hospital with horrific pain. While the docs gave her drugs, a friend gave her an odd bit of advice: Give 29 gifts in 29 days.

How your fundraising money helps:
76% - Research, service programs and education
24% - Fundraising and Administration

RESEARCH

  • Last year alone, through our national office and 50 state network of chapters, we devoted $164 million to programs and services that assisted more than a million people. To move us closer to a world free of MS, the Society also invested $40 million to support more than 325 research projects around the world, which hold significant promise for people with MS, including epidemiology, nerve repair, immunology, and pediatric care. Targeted research and care initiatives bring focus and innovation, and speed progress in understanding MS.
  • Family weekends, children's camps, and scholarships promote quality of life. The Society supports information programming including comprehensive website resources and information which receives more than 21 million web visits each year; other programs include telephone and in-person support.

ADVOCACY

  • The Society trains and supports and expanding network of thousands of MS activists to boldly ask for change at the federal, state and community levels.
  • The bi-partisan Congressional MS Caucus is the first of its kind to ensure the voices of MS Activists are heard on Capitol Hill.
